Every row shows what one pour costs you and the menu price that hits your target. Swaps and cheaper-bottle suggestions only use the bottle sizes you buy, since Virginia law doesn't let licensees refill bottles or keep spirits in anything but the bottle they bought (Va. Code § 4.1-325). Tap a size to turn it on or off.
virginia abc prices, answered.
Do Virginia bars and restaurants pay the same price as ABC store shoppers?
Yes. Virginia ABC's guidance is that licensees pay the same shelf price as retail customers. Mixed beverage licensees order through ABC's MIPS portal and can place tax-exempt orders. The prices on this page are ABC's published shelf prices, which already include the 20% state spirits tax.
When do Virginia ABC monthly specials change?
Every month. Most ABC specials run from the 1st to the last day of the month, but some start late in the month and a few run for several months. ABC usually posts the next month's specials a few days before the 1st, and this page picks them up automatically and drops each deal the day it ends.
How do I calculate pour cost for a spirit?
Divide the bottle price by the ounces in the bottle to get cost per ounce, then multiply by your pour. A 750ml bottle holds about 25.4 ounces, so a $30.99 bottle costs about $1.22 an ounce, or $1.83 for a 1.5 ounce pour. To hit a 20% pour cost, divide by 0.20: a menu price of about $9.17 before mixers and garnish. This guide does that math for every bottle using your pour size and target.
Is a 1L bottle cheaper than a 750ml?
Often, per ounce. Some products cost the same or only a dollar more in the 1L size, which can cut your cost per pour by 20% or more. The Better Buys tab lists every product where the bigger bottle you buy costs at least 8% less per ounce.
Can a Virginia bar refill bottles or pour from a bigger bottle into a smaller one?
No. Va. Code § 4.1-325 prohibits mixed beverage licensees from refilling a bottle or keeping alcohol in anything other than the container it was purchased in. That is why this guide only compares the bottle sizes you actually buy.
What counts as a Virginia product at ABC?
ABC flags products made in Virginia, including spirits from Virginia distilleries and Virginia wines sold in ABC stores. The Virginia Made tab lists all of them, which helps when guests ask what's local.
How often is this price guide updated?
ABC publishes a new price list each quarter and new specials each month. This page refreshes on ABC's schedule and shows the date it was last checked at the top. Always confirm prices in MIPS before you order.

A short email when ABC's new specials post: the best savings on bar sizes, new Virginia bottles and closeouts worth grabbing. Built for licensees.
How this works. Prices come from Virginia ABC's published quarterly price list and monthly specials. ABC shelf prices already include the 20% state spirits tax. Licensees pay the same shelf price as retail customers, and mixed beverage licensees can order tax-exempt through the MIPS portal. Per oz, per pour and menu price use the regular shelf price, with the sale price shown underneath while a sale runs, so your menu doesn't swing every month. "Menu price" is the pour cost divided by your target pour cost, before any mixers, garnish or rounding. Sales appear and disappear on the dates ABC sets. "Cheaper bottles" match category, style (for example bourbon, rye, blanco or reposado), flavored or not, and proof within 10, but taste and brand still matter. Prices and availability can change without notice, so confirm in MIPS or with your base store before you order. Not affiliated with Virginia ABC.
